Budgely

Privacy Policy

Effective November 1, 2026

Budgely has no accounts and no server of its own. We do not collect or store your expenses, bills, goals or any other budget data. Below we explain where your data is and when anything is sent to third-party services.

Who is responsible for the app

Budgely is published by MTAPP Maciej Tokarzewski (“we”). For privacy matters, write to info@budgely.pl.

In short

  • You don’t create an account or sign in. The app has no server of its own.
  • Your budget data is on your phone and, if you choose, in your private iCloud. We can’t see it.
  • Receipts and bills are read on your phone. We don’t send the photos anywhere.
  • Ads in the free version are always non-personalized. The app doesn’t track you across other apps and websites.
  • We don’t use analytics tools.

Your data stays with you

Expenses, income, bills, goals, loans, categories and settings are stored only on your phone. We have no access to them, and no one but you can see them. You can also lock the app with Face ID, Touch ID or a passcode – the check is performed by iOS, and the app only learns whether it succeeded.

iCloud

If you turn on iCloud sync in Budgely Plus, your budget data goes to the app’s private database in your iCloud account (Apple CloudKit), so that it is the same on your iPhone and iPad. If you save a backup of your data to a file, e.g. in iCloud Drive, it goes wherever you save it. In both cases the data is stored by Apple under the terms of your iCloud account – we can’t see it, and it doesn’t pass through our server.

You can turn sync off at any time in the app’s Settings.

Shared budget

The shared budget (Budgely Plus) works through iCloud sharing: entries are stored in the iCloud of the person who created the budget, and invited people can see and change them from their own Apple Account. Each entry shows the name of the person who added it, as provided by iCloud. The data doesn’t pass through our server. You can stop sharing or leave the budget at any time in the app’s Settings.

Receipt scanning and receipt photos

A photo of a receipt or a bill (e.g. for electricity or internet) is read on your phone by Apple’s system. We don’t send it anywhere, and once the amount, date and store have been read, the app doesn’t keep it. The camera is used only when you take a photo yourself.

The exception is a receipt photo that you attach to an expense yourself in Budgely Plus (e.g. in case of a return or a warranty claim). It stays in the app’s folder on that phone and, if you have iCloud sync turned on, a copy goes to your private iCloud so that the photo is also available on your iPad and on a new phone. The photo doesn’t pass through our server and is not included in the shared budget or in the app’s data backup file (it may, however, be included in a backup of your whole iPhone). It is deleted, together with its copy in iCloud, when you delete the photo or the entry.

Voice entry, bank import and export

Voice entry uses dictation on the iPhone keyboard – the app has no access to the microphone. The CSV file with your account history that you choose to import is read on your phone and never sent anywhere. CSV exports and PDF reports are created on your phone; you decide where to save them and whom to send them to.

Notifications

Reminders and summaries are scheduled on your phone. We don’t use a notification server.

In-app purchases

Payments for Budgely Plus are handled by Apple; we don’t see your card details or your Apple Account. To check whether you have Plus, we use the RevenueCat service. It receives a random, anonymous app identifier and your Plus purchase history, without your name, email address or card details. This data is used solely to handle purchases and is not used for tracking or advertising.

Ads

The free version shows Google AdMob ads (Google Ireland Limited): small cards labeled “Ad” in the expense list and in the year summary and, if you choose to watch one, an ad in exchange for extra receipt scans. There are no ads for the first 3 days, and none at all with Budgely Plus.

Ads are always non-personalized: the app doesn’t track your activity in other apps and websites, doesn’t ask for permission to do so (it doesn’t use App Tracking Transparency) and doesn’t use the device’s advertising identifier. Before the first ad appears, we will only ask for the consent required in the EU (GDPR), in Google’s consent form. Google receives the data needed to show an ad and measure its performance, such as the phone model, an approximate location derived from the IP address and whether the ad was viewed or clicked. We never share your expenses or any other budget data. How Google uses this data is described on Google’s page.

You can change your consent at any time in the app: Settings → Privacy → Ad settings.

Analytics

We don’t use analytics tools. We don’t know how you use the app.

Deleting your data

You can delete all data in the app: Settings → Data → Delete all data, or by deleting the app. To delete the copy in iCloud, go to iCloud settings on your iPhone.

Your rights

You have the right to access, rectify and erase your data and to restrict its processing, as well as the right to withdraw your consent to ads at any time. Because your budget data never reaches us, you exercise most of these rights yourself in the app. For purchase data held by RevenueCat, write to info@budgely.pl. You can also lodge a complaint with the President of the Personal Data Protection Office (UODO), the Polish data protection authority.

Changes

We will let you know in the app about significant changes to this policy. The current version is always available on this page.
